About me; rates.

I am a freelance copy editor, specializing in genre fiction; primarily science fiction, dark fantasy, horror, fantasy, young adult, middle grade, and mystery.  I also handle genre-related nonfiction projects alongside novels and short fiction.

Before I began editorial freelancing with Locus and Shimmer, I proofread a wide variety of nonfiction (ranging from advertisements to technical manuals).

My first author for Angry Robot Books requested me to work on his sequel as well.  Several of my Angry Robot authors have requested me.

Angry Robot had me guest-blog about copyediting in 2012.  [Link, alas, is broken.]

In 2014 I was added to the freelance pool by Berkley Books (Penguin Group).

In June 2015, Macmillan Publishing added me to their freelance pool; in July 2015, I delivered my first copyedit for Tor.com's novella list.

In October 2016, DAW Books added me to their freelance pool.

My editors and authors have generously written me recommendations on LinkedIn.

I offer copyediting and proofreading services.  For an updated list of the titles I've delivered, please contact me.

Rates

I have an hourly rate for copyediting and proofreading, but I take on projects with flat rates or per-page rates.  Negotiations are welcome.

Project rates will vary based on the project details and the deadline.

I refer to the EFA in setting my hourly rates.  My current hourly rate is $38.00 an hour for basic copyediting and $45.00 an hour for heavy copyediting.
