"Stair dot" | our cats.

A couple years ago, we had guests over for a long while. Back then, a game I'd play with our two kittens was throwing dots -- dots are what we call the Blue Buffalo kibble, you see.

The kittens loved it. Chasing prey! Eating prey! Wheeeeeee!!

After our guests left, the kittens were full of energy, and I threw too hard: the dots escaped and went hurtling down the stairs. Ooooooooooh! said Digger and Misty, and promptly hurtled after them. I promptly blamed our guests for this--

Thus the "stair dot game" was born. :D

I'd have to go down the stairs to rescue the lost dots. Once I ran out of steam, each kitten would get to snarf up the leftover dots in a bowl. Digger would try stealing it from his sister too. The pawsy squirt.

We play a different variant now -- the kibble game -- with different kibble, and in the living room. [Much easier on my knees.] I'd throw Kit & Kaboodle, which has actual shapes with colors; my roomie calls them caltrops!

Digger liked to chase them the most.

This too has changed. I got Purina hairball control, which are also colored, so we humans can see these flat kibbles better, but now I control who eats them. Digger gets a bowl like LG; he wanted to be Just Like Brother! and Misty eats atop their scratching post -- her favorite place for meals and treats is Up High.

Little Guy loves the New Kibble [all the cats do] as they're mostly meat by-products. Alas, like nearly everything else, they upset his digestion. He gets a few sprinkled into the BB dots so he can participate too.

After all, he is now officially part of Team Kitten. Just like his new sibs, his buddy Digger and his nemesis Misty.

Note 1: Initially, Little Guy had discovered the joys of eating his while hiding in the cat-garage. This is where he goes when overstimulated or unhappy.

Note 2: Digger and Misty were born in 2019, so the stair dot period was 2020. :)
